Gluten Free at Disneyland

Lucas with his gluten free hot dog at the Coke Corner

We just got home from a day trip to Disneyland and I wanted to write a quick review of my gluten free experience.  I have to say I was pretty impressed with the choices we had and the quality of the food as well.

We started off with lunch at the Coke Corner.  We had hot dogs on gluten free buns, GF potato chips, and apple wedges.  I was so hungry I ate the whole thing before I thought to take a picture.  Lucas was a little slower though…. so I was able to catch one of him.  He was so confused by the idea of a bun on a hot dog though, poor kid, he had never even had one before.  Anyway, he didn’t even want it so I ended up eating his bun in addition to my whole one while he just ate sliced hot dog alone.  He did like the chips and apples though.

Throughout the afternoon we snacked on caramel corn, pickles, cotton candy (all the good stuff!), and some things I brought from home.

For dinner, I was ready to head back to the hot dog place, but we decided to try one more new place.  The Tomorrowland Terrace.  I had a grilled chicken sandwich with lettuce, tomato, and avocado sauce on a GF bun, and a side of fruit.  The french fries are not gluten free.  Again, I was starving, so I ate it super fast.  And, again, no picture.  Lucas had a hamburger with a side of fruit.  The sandwiches were okay, but i wouldn’t say they were great.  The buns reminded me of the first time I tried gluten free bread about 11 years ago – they were much like cardboard.  But, it was food.  Safe food, and it filled us up.

Maybe we should have tried the pizza at the Rocket restaurant?  I guess we will save that for next time.
