Resolution Grace Period
I’ve decided that the first week in January should be deemed RESOLUTION GRACE PERIOD. Today, I needed a do over. (And I’ll probably need a few more as I get into the swing of things this month.)
Why, you ask? Well, because…
Challenge #1: Vegan for a month = major flop for day one. I ate duck. I ate bacon. I ate butter. And cheese. And probably something else that I don’t even remember.
And… I got glutened. Not a fun way to start out the year.
Next, I got grumpy. Discouraged. I started thinking… “I can’t do this”.
I was ready to give up my goals. On the first day of the year!
So…
Right now, I’m talking myself out of it. I owe this to myself. And although it is not going to be easy, and there will be a LOT of challenges, I simply MUST stick with it. I cannot let fear, uncertainty, mistakes, illness, or anything that comes my way get in the way of my success with this project.
There will be more difficult days. I need to remember how to handle them.
So, although today didn’t go perfectly as planned, I know that it went exactly how it was meant to go, in order for me to learn a few lessons on this first day of the year. And now I’m ready. To not give up. To conquer. And Succeed.

Such a cute photo of you and Lucas! You have a great attitude, even if one day is not good, try the next 🙂 and the next… I am trying to do this with a few things right now, some days are great, others not, but overall I am trying and trying and trying! Good Luck my friend 🙂

I’m dying laughing here. I don’t even think I’ve ever seen duck, let alone eat it on the same day as bacon, butter and cheese. At this rate, you might try just taking ONE thing out of your diet each week until you reach vegan status. This cold turkey thing doesn’t seem to be working out for you… Turkey? Did someone say turkey? Mmmmm!
Good luck! Hope your resolutions are turning around for you!

Brooke, you crack me up. 🙂 thanks for making me laugh about this! And good point, I would do better with a slow transition!
